Conway Police provide update on shooting investigation
2 dead, 9 injured in Conway park shooting
The Conway Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that took place Sunday night at 5th Avenue Park.Police say 11 victims were shot, and two of the victims died. The other nine victims were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries. Conway Police Chief Chris Harris said the shooting resulted in the death of Tatayana Penister, 24, from England, Arkansas, and Demetrius Feemster II, 23, from Little Rock. Harris said one victim is in serious condition. The others have nonlife-threatening injuries.Harris said police are confident at least six people discharged their firearms, and more than a hundred rounds were fired. Conway Mayor Bart Castleberry said the event was planned by an out-of-town promoter and most people in attendance were from out of town. "The event does not reflect our city, our values, and rest assured, we are making sure this type of incident does not happen in our city again," Castleberry said."We are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 501-450-6130.
